Lee Sutton and his #L7 Dirt Late Model team were busy last weekend (June 26-28), as they had three races on their schedule in the Peachtree State of Georgia. On Friday night, Lee finished twenty-fourth in the $3,000 to win Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series (TTDCS) feature event at the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. Following a rain-out at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday, the dirt-slinging action quickly turned to the Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia on Sunday. The Lee Sutton Racing team competed in one lone Dirt Late Model event last weekend, as they invaded the famed Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday night, June 20. A regular weekly show was on tap at Dixie and a $1,500 top prize was up for grabs. Lee Sutton qualified tenth quickest in time trials, which earned him the rights to the outside of the fifth row in the A-Main. The Taylorsville, Georgia native was extremely fast during the feature event, as he advanced all the way up to the second position before settling for a third place performance. Lee Sutton and his #L7 Dirt Late Model team were extremely busy over the June 12-14 weekend, as they entered a trio of races in their home state of Georgia. Lee competed in a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia (June 12), a $1,500 to win regular weekly show at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia (June 13), and a $5,000 to win unsanctioned race at the Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia (June 14).
At North Georgia on Friday, Lee unfortunately could not transfer into the 50-lap A-Main after running ninth in his heat race and tenth in his B-Main. On Saturday at Dixie, Lee qualified seventh fastest, but experienced motor problems and did not start the main event. At Rome on Sunday, Lee qualified tenth fastest and was running in the fourth position of the A-Main when a wreck relegated him to a tenth place finish. The Lee Sutton Racing team invaded the venerable Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday night, June 6 for the annual running of the 'Bill Ingram Memorial.' The unsanctioned, one-day show paid $5,000 to the winner. Lee Sutton qualified fifteenth fastest and quickly moved up inside of the top ten in the feature. Unfortunately, an untimely flat tire put an abrupt end to his strong run and sidelined him with a fifteenth place finish.
